Seventeen Days

Location: Campbellsville, KY (High 32, Low 18)

Seventeen days! If we are lucky, that is the number of work days that we have left. Based on conversations that we’ve had with campers who worked in Inbound previous years, we are hoping that we will be released at the end of our shift days the third week of December. Since our shift runs Saturday to Tuesday, that would mean that we would be released a few days ahead of the official date of “December 23rd” - which we would be ok with. If we end up working the beginning of our next shift of days, that would be alright too – it would only mean a couple more workdays for us. But we are so ready to get done. Physically, we have managed the 60 hour weeks fine, but we are tired and ready for a break.

According to the schedule that is posted outside the breakroom, next week we are going back to 50 hour weeks. We will appreciate being able to have another day of downtime. I am not sorry that we worked the full overtime schedule but I’m not going to miss it either!

With Thanksgiving this week, Black Friday and Cyber Monday start the beginning of peak for the Outbound crew. I’m not sure how that is going to impact us, but I guess we’ll be finding out soon.

A few people have asked if we intend to return to Amazon next year, and we do. We will use the money that we make here to pay our truck and fiver loans throughout the following year, so our fall experience in Campbellsville is one that we will probably repeat for at least the next several years to come.

But we’re ready for this year’s job to be over with!! 17 more days to work <being optimistic>!!

  1. Keep telling yourself it's almost over. And it really is. And the extra money to pay on the rig and truck is worth it. Really is it.

  2. I understand how your feeling as my entire working career was always 56 hours a week or greater.

Instead of using the money to pay on the truck and trailer divide those earnings in half and immediately pay it on the rigs. This will save you money in interest and by continuing to make your regular payments they will also be paid off much sooner. Thus meaning less workcamping stints in the future.

    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. lol If we had the money to make the regular payments without using the money from Amazon we wouldn't need to work here.

  3. I have been following your sometime funny post here for a couple of weeks now and have really enjoyed it/.

I find your info about amazon workcaming a good inside to what is going on and that was something we might like to do one year when we become full timers in the next 5-7 yrs..

I have read some other bloggs talking about there work experience but it was some 3 yrs ago when the program was first starting. I understand things are a lot better now for sure.

If you dont mind saying what do you expect your total income to be for you amazon work experience.

thanks and happy thanksgiving to you all..
