Settling in to Jamaica Beach RV Park

Location: Galveston, TX (High 64, Low 59)

I think officially we’re in Galveston, but the campground is just a little past the “city” of Jamaica Beach. (Population 983) We drove maybe a couple miles and then at the end of the town area saw a sign that we were back in Galveston.

The roads in the campground are a bit narrow, but they have nicely sloped turning areas.

We are in a short road section that ends at the little playground area.

The sites are extremely long. I think this is the most parking room we have ever had.

We are on the back side of the campground so about as far away from the ocean as it gets in here. We still have a nice view of a fielded area.

I am looking on the bright side that although there is a lot of wind blowing off the ocean we can hardly tell. (Although we can hear it  roaring.) IMG_1007

There is a pretty little pond area over towards the office. They have a takeout pizza place here, and an adult pool with a tiki bar. But it’s not heated, so…let’s just say we didn’t see anyone in the pool.

We went for a walk to the beach last night. The beach access road is just a little bit down the road. This picture is taken from the access road looking back over to the campground.

The beach is right down this little road.

There is even a little parking area.

The ocean was wild last night, just churning up sea foam like crazy.

I don’t know if it’s always like this or if it’s because of the stormy weather we’ve been having. From looking at the weather forecast, I don’t think it’s going to change much over the next few days.

There are no real sunny days in the forecast until next weekend.

Well, in the meantime, we will just have to make do with the weather we have.

On a more positive note – we haven’t had a chance to take a look yet, but this is the first campground we have been in that has a hot tub. We may just have to check it out. Smile

  1. Yep the Gulf is windy some more days much more than others. The lot we got at Gulf Waters is a little more protected than the one we stayed in, so far the bayfront here hasn't been too bad. Enjoy the hot tub we really miss ours sometimes.
