Location: Earlton, NY (High 81, Low 58)
When we woke up yesterday morning, we were happy to see that our decision to not move on Sunday had paid off.
It was so much nicer to get all packed up without getting poured on!
After we got going though, our nice blue skies…
…were all too soon becoming cloudy, and checking the radar, it was evident that we had not completely evaded rainy travel.
But looking on the bright side, we were happy that at least we didn’t have to hook up in pouring rain. We ended up having about an hour and a half of dry roads before we drove into the rain.
We had a bit of a scare on the final stretch down Rt 81 to Earlton when we encountered signs saying that the road was closed ahead and for trucks not to proceed. We pulled over and called the campground just to verify, and were SO happy to find out that the road closure was just past the turnoff that went to the campground.
Although it was super cloudy and gloomy, the rain did stop long enough for us to get backed into our site and set up.
We even had a small bit of clearing after dinner when I was able to get this shot as we were walking around the field where our site is located.
Our first impression of Earlton Hill Family Campground is a positive one. It is so quiet here – we don’t hear any traffic noise at all.
These pictures are a pretty dreary first look at the campground, but when this rain finally stops, I will get some new shots with blue sky and sunshine in them!
Nice to have a new backyard!
