We have been continuing our work out in the garage.
Look, there is a floor under there after all!!
After I got home from work last night, we worked for awhile trying to organize all the stuff out here into piles.
This whole pile of stuff is garbage.
The challenge is getting it into our garbage bin. It will probably take at least 5 or 6 weeks to get rid of the majority of it. The small pile of cardboard will go into the recycling bin – that will be gone next week.
We are planning to get a dumpster in August. Whatever we have left at that point will go in there, along with the remains of a ramshackle shed that we have in our back yard and intend to take apart within the next month or so.
And this is the main area left to go through – the shelving in the back and Harry’s workbench. Most of the larger items in this picture will be going to family members.
I am so looking forward to having an empty garage! It will be a few months before we get to that point, I think. But we’re definitely making progress!
You sure are making progress! Are you allowed to burn where you are? We burned a lot of our "natural" trash, like wood and cardboard. Then we put things in our trans bins (2) each week. Many times the bins would be filled again right after the trash pick up! In our area, we can order extra bins. The charge for extra bins here is much less expensive than a dumpster. We had first thought we'd get a dumpster, but took the less expensive route.
ReplyDeletesoon all this cleaning and tossing and organizing will be but a distant memory!!!..nice to see most the garage floor!
ReplyDeleteOur neighbor had room in their bins and let us finish filling them one week. Most of the stuff left is going to the kids or a garage sale. Now the house has been on the market for 2 1/2 months and this is the hard part...waiting.
ReplyDeleteWe are unable to burn in NYS as there is a statewide burning ordinance which prohibits it. You can basically BBQ and have a campfire and that it. Its an anti pollution measure that was implemented about 2 years ago.
