Super Bowl Sunday

Location: Jacksonville, FL (High 66, Low 43)

IMG_4211Yesterday was another beautiful day. We are loving these nice temperatures. Every morning we start out with a walk around the campground. Yesterday we walked three miles. It’s so awesome to be able to go outside in shorts and a t-shirt in February. I don’t know how long it will be before that doesn’t seem amazing.

In the early afternoon, we headed out to go visiting Harry’s sister Linda and her family. We passed by the shopping complex I mentioned the other day. This place is about 3 miles from the campground. It’s very unexpected – you’re driving IMG_4234along this rural road, and then all of a sudden, you come upon a shopping center. Any store we could want or need to go to is here.

We had a nice afternoon. Harry got to meet his little great niece for the first time.

She is a little cutie!

We had a really nice time visiting with Linda and the rest of the family. It’ll be great since we’re here for a few weeks yet to have some other chances to get together.

By early evening, we had to head home. We had left the windows open for the cats, and once the sun went down, the temps started to cool down quickly. We spent the rest of the evening watching the game, and the commercials. Without “my” team playing, I definitely don’t feel as invested in the results. My conclusions…I am glad that the game didn’t turn out to be a blowout. I didn’t care for a lot of the commercials, but thought the best ones were in the second half.  And it was SO nice to know that we didn’t have to get up and go to work today. Speaking of work, this is Harry’s last week. He has been using up his vacation time, but this coming Friday is his birthday – he reaches that magic age, and then he will be retired for real! He will try not to work too hard this week. Winking smile

  1. I'm glad you're able to wear shorts in February. I guess that does seem pretty amazing coming from a cold climate. We lived in Florida for 30 years and noticed the northerners would be wearing shorts and t-shirts and we would be wearing coats and long pants. Enjoy your beautiful weather.

  2. It's been almost five years for us and I still get excited about being able to wear shorts and a t-shirt in February. I just love it. I was glad the game wasn't a blow out either. After the first half I was afraid it would be.

  3. We were surprised by the results. Of course, we were surrounded by 49er fans, as we're in 49er country! It was a good game anyway.

  4. We've been wearing t-shirts and shorts here in Palm Springs in February for 6 years now - and, it's still amazing. I hope that feeling never goes away!

Congrats to Harry on 'official retirement'.
