Life These Days

Location: Catskill, NY (High 79, Low 68)

We are heading toward the end of our second month here in Catskill and I can’t believe it. It’s not that there isn’t anything going on, because it seems like every day is busy, but it’s been just like normal life which seems harder to blog about for some reason.

A few random thoughts…

IMG_5906The campground is starting to fill up for the 4th. We actually have neighbors on our door side for the first time since Memorial Day. An older couple, and they seem like they will be good neighbors – and are here for the whole month of July, so that’s nice. Their trailer was parked an hour or so downstate and their son relocated it to this park for them.

siblingsThe half marathon that I am training for is now 38 days away. This past Sunday my sister and I went to Albany with Harry and my brother-in-law. We went to a store called Fleet Feet, where we each had our own personal shoe “counselor”, who measured our feet and looked at our running style and then told us about how we land on our feet and what kind of shoe is best for us. They brought out multiple boxes of shoes for us to try on, told us to go outside and run a little in them. It was a very different way to buy shoes from just walking into a store and grabbing a pair because I liked the color. Flirt male I haven’t worn my new shoes yet, but I am looking forwIMG_5953ard to trying them out.

The training is going well. We are starting to incorporate a hill into our daily runs, because the half-marathon is in Lake George which is pretty hilly. I felt very productive this morning after we ran four miles in the rain (which is why I didn’t wear my new shoes – I didn’t want to get them wet the first time I wore them). During the week we run 4 or 5 miles each day, and each Saturday we add one mile to our long run. This Saturday we will run 8 miles. I am feeling really good – my legs are feeling so strong. I still can’t believe that I am actually running!

Harry is feeling good. He is getting ancy to start doing maintenance type stuff again with the fiver, but still has another week or so before he can start working in lifting or stretching kinds of activities. We will be here until August 12th so he still has some time. At that point we will have been in this same campground for almost three months, which I thought was going to feel really long, but the time is going by so fast it’s crazy! It’s been a great summer so far though. We are having a great time here in upstate NY.

  1. It is great what you are doing & you look fabulous! I am not sure I could run anymore, I used to. We know about being one place so long. Glad there are things to do to keep busy..or not!

  2. Glad to hear that things are going well for your running. You might even consider keeping it up as part of your exercise regiment.

I know how Harry is feeling because I also have maintenance plans for both the truck and trailer that Kathy reminds me will have to wait since my hernia surgery was only June 19th. Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.
