We’re In!

IMG_1871After months of planning and arranging, today was the day! MOVE IN DAY! We are now settled in the fiver for our first evening, and tonight will be our first night sleeping in here.

I worked this morning, and after I got home, I got busy bringing over those last minute items. It’s been a bit of a challenge over the last weeks with some of our stuff in the house and some in the fiver. So, today was the day to bring over things that we use all the time, like our computers, coffee pot, things like that.

IMG_1876I also had to bring in everything I needed for the cats. I wasn’t sure how much time it would take for them to adapt, but they settled right in. It helps to have the cat tree and all of their familiar items in here.

IMG_1877We are now in the fiver for good. There are several reasons that we made the decision to move out now. One reason is that we have three weeks left until we start our summer travels. We only have from 2 to 4 weeks between our trips. We didn’t like the thought of moving stuff back and forth between the house and rv before and after each of our trips. Another big reason is that we are ready to start putting the finishing touches on our house sale preparations. Now that we are out in the fiver, we can empty out all of the cat stuff and all of the other miscellaneous odds and ends.

And the final reason is simply – we’re ready!!! Open-mouthed smile

    1. Unfortunately we don't have a sewer connection. :( It's the only bummer. We do have a water connection, and are using the tanks, but only using the "facilities" at night. From now through October we will be going to a campground with full hookups every 3 to 4 weeks, so we will empty our tanks there. After October it will be more of a challenge. We may have to just go to the house then, I'm not sure.

  4. I follow your blog regularly as you provide an excellent script for fellow "planning to RV" followers. You have had things planned and executed so superbly I am in envy. Great information. Congratulations on your successful transition. I will be curious as to how the Kiddies adjust as we do have a cat ourselves.

    1. Thanks Bev! In the beginning, I felt like we were doing things "early" but now I am glad we did the planning and spread the process out over a few years. :) This last year is speeding by so fast.

  5. I, too, thought you were getting started early. However, you knew best and progressed at the right pace. Congrats!

  6. Congratulations! I have been reading for a while and following your progress. We are also retiring from NYS this summer and heading out in our class A in Sept. We are however keeping our place so we won't be moving to our camper till later. We also travel with a cat. How excited you must be, I can only imagine. If you are in the area of Plattsburgh and looking for a quiet place to park, about 17 min. west, we have a large hidden yard and we would be happy to have you stop by. I just started my own blog yeaterday, it will take some time to tweek. Congratulations again! Hope to meet up with you in our travels.
