Welcome February!

Location: Avon Park, FL

12458757_10208841599664060_1008529380_oI did it! After finishing my blog post yesterday, I changed into my running clothes and headed out for a 6 mile run. I had thought about extending my run a half mile on Monday but it was windy, and a cold wind at that, so I scrapped that idea in hopes that Tuesday would be nicer. And it was…a beautiful day with just a light breeze so 6 miles yesterday was actually very enjoyable. That means I made it to 100 miles total run in the month of January! A lot of runners shoot for some milestone like 1000 miles a year, but that’s just 12470938_10208840675600959_1125274263_onot realistic for me, because as much as I like to hope otherwise, I just know I’m not going to feel like running a lot once we get to Amazon. Just as I’m writing this, it came to me that a more realistic goal might be 750 miles for the year. Hmmm…

About the only other news of note for the day is that February 1st marks the date that four month reservations can be made here at Adelaide Shores. (Five and six month + reservations can be 12465467_10208832971128352_306015411_omade during January.) So we stopped by the office earlier today and signed ourselves up for another winter season here. Eventually we plan to do some traveling out west, to see some new sights and do some exploring…but that’s down the road (no pun intended) at some point. At the current time, we are enjoying our stays here – we have made some good friends, and economically it works for us.

We have some fun events coming up this month, so it should be a good one!

  1. Glad you made your 6 mile run...reaching a goal such as 100 in a month is a great accomplishment. Good to have your spot reserved for next winter.

  2. Everyone should travel at the rate that is comfortable for them. It would appear you found your niche.
