Location: Emlenton, PA (High 62, Low 51)
Our decision yesterday to hang out an additional day in Woodland paid off this morning when we woke up to a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine.
We only had a short 80 miles to get to our destination. Our current location is not far from the Allegheny River which we passed over right before we took our exit.
We are at Gaslight Campground, which is less than a mile off I-80, but we can’t hear the highway at all. It looks like there are a lot of seasonal campers here, with a section of pull throughs toward the front for travelers.
Our site is long, and was relatively easy to get into – except for the fact that they have had a lot of rain and the ground was pretty wet. Harry had to put Max into 4 wheel drive to give him a little extra pulling power.
We did not plan to get 4 wheel drive, and just took it because the truck we found on the lot had it. But we have used it several times, and are glad that we ended up finding a truck with this option.
We will be here until Saturday, and don’t have much planned, other than checking out a restaurant in a nearby town that reportedly has a view of the Allegheny River and 50 cent wings.
Do you make reservations ahead of time? I used to do that but found when I decided to stay longer somewhere due to weather or something else that there was a problem with the next reservation, because most RV parks do not issue refunds.
ReplyDeleteYes, I usually make reservations. I called this campground that we are in now last week, and they said they weren't busy yet so we didn't need a reservation. In January when we were traveling south, we ended up staying an extra night in PA due to a snowstorm, and when I called the next campground to change our arrival date, they didn't give us any grief about it.
DeleteAs you know, we make reservations too. Have not had any problem cancelling or even delaying ours. One campground even refunded the 3 days that we were late (refrigerator issue)since we had prepayed. We didn't expect that!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice, green campground you guys are at :)
You are about 25 mi se of where my home is. Have you checked out Tionesta Dam area? on sr62? It is a beautiful campgrounds, inexpensive. I used to camp there with my family more years ago then I like to admit. Sounds like you are having fun since your retirement. Congratulations and best wishes for you on your journeys!
