Travel Day to Ashland, VA

Location: Ashland, VA (High 58, Low 36)

Well, we definitely know that we are moving north. The high temperatures we are experiencing are nowhere near the high 60s and 70s that we have enjoyed most of the past two and a half months. IMG_4858

Although there is something very nice about coming back to experience the new growth of spring without having suffered through all the cold temperatures and snow. I think we cheated!

Our trip today was very straightforward – almost entirely on I-95. We saw lots of northern license plates – heading home at the end of spring break vacations! We hit some stop and go traffic which really did a job on our fuel mileage.

We ended up stopping to eat our lunch at a truck stop so we could fill up the truck.

For most of the last 45 miles, we took I-295 which worked out great because the majority of the traffic stayed on I-95. It was so nice to see a quiet road after the craziness of all the traffic on the other highway.

We are settled in at Richmond North/ Americamps KOA. We have a nice pull thru site, and our directv worked! yay!

After we got somewhat unpacked, we went for a little walk. It’s still warm enough for short sleeves!

We will be here until Monday – tomorrow we are going to find the Wal-Mart and do a little grocery shopping.

  2. That KOA was "home sweet home" for us back in 2011 for about 6 months while we were selling our house, and then again last Fall for about a month and a half. Sorry we missed you! :)

P.S. Say "Hi" to Terri at the camp office for us.

  3. Hopefully on Monday the traffic will have died down for you. And here's hoping the weather doesn't get too cold for shirt sleeves.

  4. Be careful! We stopped at that park in Ashland once, and left with a new motorhome!

    Have fun!
