Location: Fayetteville, NC (High 49, Low 41)
When I planned the timing for our trip north, just by happenstance our non-traveling day turned out to be a rainy one. We probably would have decided to sit still anyway, but we ended up not having to make the decision.
We woke up in the morning to the sound of rain on the roof, so we knew before we even crawled out of bed that it was going to be a low-key day. And we can definitely tell we are heading north, given the temps, but our fireplace kept us nice and cozy all day long.
We did find a few errands to get us out for a little while. As we traveled north on I-95, we were happy to see a billboard advertising Camping World at an exit only 4 miles from our own. So, not being able to pass that up, we had to make a stop there.
We also needed to mail something at a post office, and found what was probably the smallest post office I have ever seen. It was just a service window in a building that seemed to have a flea market of sorts in the rest of it. I wanted to take a picture but didn’t want federal officers to track me down later.
And our final stop was at one of our favorite restaurants…Shoney’s. We discovered their awesome buffets on our trip south in 2011. Since we left NY in January, we have been hoping to find one near our stops, but haven’t been successful – until now! Yum.
Today is going to be another laidback day. I am happy that it has stopped raining, so I am going to be able to get my walk in for the first time in three days. And a friend reminded me last night that it has been a LONG time since we’ve had Chinese food, so we will be heading out to a nearby place to get some for lunch.
We’ll be heading out tomorrow morning for Ashland, VA.
It's raining here too. I hope it stops soon for both of us!
ReplyDeleteI think Ron was at Camping World the same time you both were yesterday.
ReplyDeleteLol That's so funny! I didn't realize you guys were so close.
DeleteNot a bad idea to have a planned Down Day.
ReplyDeleteWe often leave a down day in the middle of our traveling days. :) We fuel up and do any shopping we need to do, and if we don't need to do anything, we just enjoy not being in the truck.
DeleteJerry and I also think a down day in the middle of travel days is a great idea :)!!
ReplyDeleteRain...something we have not yet had to experience traveling in.
Shoney's! Hope the rain subsides and things get better with sunshine :-)
