Next Month!

As today is the first of August, we are now at the exciting point where we can say our house goes on sale next month! Wow! It’s such an exciting time. Yes we have a lot of cleaning to do, but at least most of the fix-it projects are coming to an end.

Harry did an awesome job staining the sliding glass door out to the deck.

Harry’s co-worker came by yesterday afternoon and picked up the IMG_2761couch we had removed from the fiver. That opened up a HUGE empty spot in our garage. We can now see the end of the STUFF. The biggest things left on that side of the garage are the mower and the snow blower. The lawn mower is going to a co-worker of mine very soon, and the snow blower will be picked up by my brother as soon as the house sells and we know we don’t need it anymore.

The main things left on this side are Harry’s various saws. Once he uses them to turn that piece of wood on the floor into new steps to the deck, they will be put up for sale.

Our garage should be well on the way to empty by the time we have any potential buyers making their way through here.

We went to Home Depot in Albany last night and picked up the last five outlet covers we needed. We also bought a new medicine chest for the upstairs bathroom, because, believe it or not, the door completely FELL OFF a couple days ago. The screws came right out of the pressboard side. It had only been up on the wall since February!! We’re not sure what happened – we bought it quite a while ago, so we are surmising that it was too damp for it out in the garage where it sat in the box for probably over a year. But for whatever reason, it had a short life, so we bought a new one last night.

Tonight we are heading to Lowe’s for what we HOPE will be the LAST purchases for this house. When we redid the bathrooms, we took out the old chrome finish toilet paper holder and towel bars. We did some looking around and found some reasonably priced sets in the nickel finish we have on all the faucets etc. at Lowe’s. So we will be going tonight armed with two gift cards we got from credit card rewards. It won’t cover the whole cost, but hopefully about half. I really do hope this is the end of our buying for this place.

Our goal for being completely finished is the 31st of August, so we have 30 more days!! We are so excited to see the end in sight!!!

  7. Will you be pulling out if the house sells right away, or will you have to stay in the area until Harry retires?

    1. If the house sells right away, as soon as we have the closing we will relocate to a campground 2 hours south of here. Harry will come up every Monday and stay at my sister's house during the week and commute from there, and then come down to the campground on Friday for the weekend. We will be able to head for warmer climes in January. :)
