Fun First Day of the Year

Yesterday was a great day! We had a leisurely start to the morning, heading out around 10 or so.

When we got to Gretchen’s, presents were the first order of the day. Schaun seemed to be enjoying his new toys. (Notice the clothes and other boring gifts left behind on the couch.)

Our little guy is getting big and climbed out of his crib twice this past week. So another order of business for the day was putting together the toddler bed. Then Papa carefully tried out the finished product.

After the construction of the new bed, Papa and Schaun relaxed to watch something on tv.

Papa’s hat is a little too big, but we’re having fun trying it on anyway.

It was a beautiful day, with highs somewhere in the 50s. Harry took this picture of me outside our hotel.

So it was an enjoyable 1/1/11. I didn’t even notice the date until I was reading blogs last night! Today hopefully we will have a quiet trip home. The cooler air is supposed to be coming back with a little precipitation. We are hoping that we will not have snow or icy roads when we travel this afternoon.

  1. That was a great way to start the new year!

  2. Looks like a great way to start the new year, I recognize that toy (the barn), had one for SD when he was that age!
    1/1/11 - I didn't notice till I read your blog! How funny.

Hope this is a great year for everyone!!

  4. It was still 40+ when we drove through NY state last night about midnight. It was around 50 here in Pa. I am sure that wont stay.
